I am a Network Admin / Systems Administrator by trade.
With over 15 years of experience across the Distribution and Warehousing, Financial Services and Professional Services industries.

During this time i have made it my personal mission to be the best Systems Administrator that i can be, i enjoy the challenge that this brings, either bringing in new systems, re-designing existing systems or even putting out the fires when something breaks as it inevitability does.

while i try my best not to be the typical grumpy Systems Administrator , i often find myself looking to how i can help others improve or fix the process so that everyone learns.

Life is about the journey to the destination, i prefer to network and help out not only my colleges but the friends i have made along the way.

My inquisitive nature and willingness to help has led me to be involved with several community organisations to help them with no only their IT needs, but other technical pains that they might have.

My areas of Focus are:

  • Storage and Virtualization – Design, Implementation and Management
  • Wireless and Wired Networking – – Design, Implementation and Management
  • Remote Access Networks – Design, Implementation and Management
  • Information Systems – Design, Implementation and Management
  • Telephony – Skype, Avaya and AudioCodes – i dabble with asterisk for home use
  • Project Management – Office Moves, Network cut overs, systems changes
  • Identity and Access Management – Federation, Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
  • Network Security – Firewall Configuration and Management, MFA – Implementation and Management.
  • The Typical Microsoft Business stack – Active Directory, File Services, SQL, Exchange, Skype, M365, ADFS.

Other More Fun Experiences that i have had along the way

  • Keeping my vendors honest – i prefer to be up front and direct.
  • Presenting at various user groups and giving an honest and entertain presentation.
  • understanding how best to communicate with others for success to lay the foundations for positive relationships within the work environment.

Personal Hobbies.

like most other people in the Tech space my list of hobbies is extensive and expensive.
The below list is a short collection on some of my personal favorites.

  • My Home Lab – getting to work on it, break it, fix it, rebuild it. (there never seems to be enough time in the day or night)
  • Streaming – using my knowledge and love of technology to help under represented sports produce effective and marketable high quality streams.
  • Photography – i love capturing moments – whether it be sports photography or just helping friends out creating memories for people allows me a creative outlet.
  • Strength and Conditioning – weird for an IT person. but i love to hit the gym and lift things – it may be the only 2 hours a week i get to turn off my mind.
  • Umpiring – for over 20 years i have umpired at my junior football league – while it takes its toll physically, i do love my days running around an football oval – i have met many great friends along the way and i love the fitness it brings me.
